GKSS Skiff

This design was done by the Ohlson Brothers following a request by GKSS in 1949. GKSS had specified a simple, lapstrake dinghy, seaworthy for the rough West Coast of Sweden, priced between then 500 to 600 SEK and shorter than a Star boat.

The results became the EKA skiff, a sturdy boat presented already in February 1950.

It turned out an immediate success and over the years more than 1,300 boats were built by yards all over Sweden with production peaking around 1960. They were a common sight across Sweden.

New boats can still be ordered from Erikssons Båtbyggeri at Ingmarssö.

You will find an article on the initial reception as well as the class rules attached.

A Finish boat builder has published the genesis of an EKA built by himself. Great viewing!
